A Historic Fusion of Down Inspired by Harsh Environments and Street Fashion

It has been decided that a BE@RBRICK from the collaboration between A BATHING APEⓇ (hereafter, BAPEⓇ) and the Toronto-based down brand CANADA GOOSE will be released. The two brands recently garnered attention for their winter collection, which reimagined CANADA GOOSE's classic "Crofton Puffer" and "Freestyle Vest" in BAPEⓇ's signature ABC CAMO pattern.
First, let's take a look back at the history of CANADA GOOSE, which celebrates its 67th anniversary this year.
In 1957, Sam Tick, driven by a strong passion for entrepreneurship, immigrated to Canada and established Metro Sportswear Ltd. in Toronto, specializing in wool vests, raincoats, and snowmobile wear. In the 1970s, Sam's son-in-law, David Reis, joined the company. His invention of a high-capacity down-filling machine ushered in a new era for Metro Sportswear, leading to the establishment of SNOW GOOSE, the predecessor to what would become CANADA GOOSE.
In the 1980s, based on data from individuals working in extreme cold regions, they developed an expedition parka that met the specific needs of researchers stationed at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. In 1982, Laurie Skreslet, wearing a custom parka designed and manufactured by Metro Sportswear, became the first Canadian to summit Mount Everest. The company further supported Arctic expeditions and formed a partnership with Lance Mackey, a dog sled racer. Mackey went on to win the "Iditarod" and "Yukon Quest" dog sled races four times each, setting historic world records.
In 2020, CANADA GOOSE launched "HUMANATURE," a platform aimed at integrating sustainability and values-based initiatives. The company declared its commitment to strengthening communities, protecting the planet, and working towards the future for the next generation.
Meanwhile, since its establishment in Tokyo in 1993, BAPEⓇ has led the street fashion scene as an icon. Over the years, the brand has introduced iconic designs and items such as "APE HEAD," "BAPEⓇ CAMO," "BAPE STA™️," "SHARK HOODIE," and "BABY MILO®," along with original patterns and characters. With stores in Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, China, and various Asian countries, BAPEⓇ has garnered strong support from a wide range of demographics worldwide.
The "BE@RBRICK BAPEⓇ × CANADA GOOSE SHARK 100% & 400% / 1000%," releasing this time, is a historic model that masterfully fuses traditional down craftsmanship with street fashion, highlighted by the logos of both brands adorning each shoulder. The 1000% model features a detachable, BE@RBRICK-sized ABC CAMO patterned CANADA GOOSE down parka. We encourage you to experience firsthand the spirit of CANADA GOOSE, which continues to inherit the craftsmanship and traditions of artisans while drawing inspiration from the harsh Arctic environment.
