Founded in 2014 by designer Yoshiaki Sueyasu, KIDILL is a Japanese fashion brand that draws significant influence from British youth culture, particularly punk. It captures the essence of street impulse and style with a contemporary spirit, garnering considerable attention.

The brand, which has previously explored themes of British rock bands like Public Image Ltd, The Damned, and Siouxsie & The Banshees, presents its Spring/Summer 2020 collection as an official collaboration with Peter Murphy, the vocalist of Bauhaus. This collection is an homage to the revered musician, considered a progenitor of gothic rock.

For this collection, Sueyasu chose the motif "BAT & ROSE," inspired by Peter Murphy's aesthetic, which began with Bauhaus's debut single "Bela Lugosi's Dead" for the film "The Hunger" (1983), and is known for his portrayal of Dracula in "Dracula" (1931). The motif expresses Murphy's unique sensibility.

Sueyasu commissioned the "BAT & ROSE" design from ERI WAKIYAMA, a rising New York-based Japanese illustrator known for her collaboration with Miu Miu. Her illustrations of bats and roses serve as the iconic motif for KIDILL's Spring/Summer 2020 collection, appearing across various items.
