Keith Haring, a leading artist of 80s New York street art. He gained attention for his "subway drawings," chalk art on unused advertising boards in subway stations, and held his first solo exhibition at the Westbeth Gallery in 1981. In 1984, he exhibited at the 41st Venice Biennale and created murals worldwide, including in Australia and Brazil. In 1985, he designed the stage set for a performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music commemorating the 300th anniversary of Black street and social dance. With his motto, "Art is for everyone," he opened "Pop Shop," a store selling his original merchandise, in New York in 1986. He continued his diverse artistic activities until his untimely death from AIDS-related complications on February 16, 1990, at the age of 31.
The "Barking Dog" introduced here is one of Keith Haring's most famous artist tags, alongside "Radiant Baby" and "3-Eyed Face." This motif, which has been depicted repeatedly since his early career in various forms such as barking or dancing, has now been realized as a statue by Medicom Toy. Its substantial construction, which faithfully captures the characteristic bold lines, offers a powerful presence. Be sure to get your hands on the commemorative first model, the WHITE Ver.
