Studio "2G" is a new style of space that fuses art toys, a concept shop, and a gallery. It opened in 2019 as a place where MEDICOM TOY, Motofumi "Poggy" Kogi, and NANZUKA create new culture and values through their unique perspectives and synergistic collaborations (2G OSAKA opened in 2020). It consistently garners intense attention from around the globe.
Here, we introduce new MEDICOM TOY items scheduled for release in September 2023 at 2G TOKYO in Shibuya, Tokyo, and 2G OSAKA in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. This month features Doraemon by fragmentdesign.

fragmentdesign is a design project led by Hiroshi Fujiwara. It has collaborated with numerous brands and companies, including Louis Vuitton, Nike, and Starbucks, and in recent years has garnered global attention for its partnerships with popular anime characters.

This time, fragmentdesign has collaborated with "Doraemon," the beloved national character created by manga artist Fujiko F. Fujio. The manga depicts the antics of Doraemon, a cat-type robot from the 22nd century, who lives with Nobita Nobi, an elementary school student poor at both studies and sports, and causes trouble with secret gadgets from the future.
The manga began serialization in Shogakukan's educational magazines in December 1969. The anime television series, which began airing on TV Asahi in April 1979, will celebrate its 45th anniversary next year. Feature films have also been released annually since 1980 (except for 2005 and 2021), with the 43rd installment in the series, "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Earth Symphony," scheduled for March 2024.

The "VCD fragmentdesign Doraemon" is a figure with a total height of approximately 165mm. The coloring is rendered in the exquisite monochrome that fragmentdesign excels at. The bell around its neck features a vibrant gold plating and is engraved with fragmentdesign's iconic lightning bolt motif, serving as an accent that symbolizes the collaboration.

This item, scheduled for release in September 2023 at 2G, is, in a sense, Doraemon for adults. Coincidentally, September is Doraemon's birth month (September 3, 2112), making it a perfect time to embrace an anniversary mood and return to childhood.
