An Interview with Patrick Fan Wing Ting
From Friday, July 5 to Sunday, September 15, 2019, WF Fashion will host the "BE@RBRICK MACAU 2019 Exhibition." The venue, Galaxy Macau, is a premier shopping destination in Asia where fashionistas can find the latest trends. This year's fashion art exhibition features WF Fashion and seven leading international fashion brands: Pinel et Pinel, MARNI, Roberto Cavalli, Sergio Rossi, Neil Barrett, La Maison Du Chocolat, and Vital Material. Each brand's creations will be displayed across all sections of the Promenade shops, alongside art installations using 3000% size BE@RBRICK figures, approximately 2.1 meters tall. BE@RBRICKs in 100%, 400%, and 1000% sizes will also be available for purchase. The highly sought-after MY FIRST BE@RBRICK B@BY will be released in a crossover edition with WF Fashion, featuring "Macau" branding. From the Japanese organic lifestyle brand Vital Material, a gold-plated aroma diffuser BE@RBRICK created specifically for this exhibition will be launched.
Ahead of the opening, we spoke with Patrick Fan Wing Ting, President of WF Holdings, about the event.

An Exclusive Macau Event: Limited Items Available Only On-Site
—Could you tell us about the concept behind this event?
Patrick Fan Wing TingMacau is an international tourist city that welcomes over 35 million visitors annually. World First Holdings Limited and its affiliates are a unique fashion retail group, holding franchise rights for over 30 international brands.
We operate a distribution network with over 250 directly managed stores and more than 1,500 employees across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Our rapid expansion has been driven by the quality of our brands and stores, along with a strong management team.
We are one of the most competitive fashion groups in Macau and have witnessed the city's ups and downs for over 15 years. We wanted to do something that not only involves traditional fashion retail but also introduces something new to Macau and reinvents our fashion spirit in an innovative way.
—Why did you choose BE@RBRICK as the mascot for this event?
Patrick Fan Wing TingWF Fashion is a fashion boutique that curates a diverse range of products, from luxury brands to contemporary labels and exquisite lifestyle goods. To differentiate ourselves from competitors, Patrick Fan, the founder of World First Holdings, drew inspiration from the captivating window displays on Omotesando, Tokyo, a street renowned for its collection of the world's most fashionable stores.
We found the missing piece for our project: the fusion of "art and fashion," an area that other fashion retailers in Macau had not yet explored. We couldn't think of a better partner who shares our passion than BE@RBRICK and MEDICOM TOY, so we approached them for this collaboration.
We are well aware of BE@RBRICK's reputation and its crossover appeal within the fashion industry. However, what truly impresses us is MEDICOM TOY's boundless creativity and its contributions to the toy manufacturing industry. This is precisely what World First Holdings values in a partner. We are incredibly honored to be able to join the ranks of the many BE@RBRICK collaborations that have been produced and to work alongside them.
—How popular is BE@RBRICK in Macau?
Patrick Fan Wing TingIt's definitely becoming more and more popular. As you walk through the city, you'll notice an increasing number of shops, from bookstores to barbershops, displaying BE@RBRICKs in their windows. Some even have extensive collections, which would surely surprise you if you saw them.

WF Fashion
WF Fashion as the host of BE@RBRICK MACAU 2019 has collaborated with MY_FIRST BE@RBRICK B@BY. The color is meant to appeal to youth culture and represents joy over the entire project. The hot collectible collection will feature an exclusive “MACAU”-imprinted crossover edition.

Pinel Et Pinel
Pinel Et Pinel is the youngest super luxury brand from Paris. As a big kid at heart and an art lover, Fred Pinel could not help but leap into this comically artistic universe. Like a Superhero, the Pinel Et Pinel BE@RBRICK is dressed with the brand’s monogram-coated canvas. He is also wearing a mask and wings to travel … from Paris to Macau!

Sergio Rossi
Sergio Rossi is a luxury Italian footwear brand. The distinctive Icona bow is the inspiration of the brand’s SR Icona collection. By adding red lips and long eyelashes, it emphasizes femininity and adds a touch of fun to the look. Featuring a maxi logo on the chest the project is deeply rooted to the Sergio Rossi world.

La Maison Du Chocolat
La Maison Du Chocolat is a luxury chocolate brand from Paris. Find ultra mini chocolate and macaron dummies inside the BE@RBRICK tummy!

Neil Barrett
Neil Barrett BE@RBRICK embraces the brand’s symbolic thunder pattern. The all matte black BE@RBRICK body keeps its distinctive British DNA with a modern interpretation.

MARNI
MARNI BE@RBRICK provides a new interpretation of the brand’s sophisticated fashion style on this toy collaboration. The complexity of the color mix is a unique treat.

Roberto Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli makes a special design for BE@RBRICK with the wavy black and pink curves playing up the brand’s usual twist.

VITAL MATERIAL
VITAL MATERIAL offers a brand-new chrome gold version BE@RBRICK_AROMA_DIFFUSER for this event. All products come with a special fragrance created by the creative master of VITAL MATERIAL.
—Could you tell us about the design motifs for each participating brand?
Patrick Fan Wing TingFirst, WF Fashion, as the host of BE@RBRICK MACAU 2019, collaborated with MY FIRST BE@RBRICK B@BY. The color scheme is a nod to youth culture and expresses the joy we feel in bringing this project to fruition.
Pinel Et Pinel is the youngest super luxury brand from Paris. The design features the brand's signature monogram pattern, shaped like the number '8,' which holds auspicious meaning in Chinese culture and also signifies the brand's boundless creativity. While this pattern is typically used on leather, we have successfully adapted it for the BE@RBRICK.
Sergio Rossi is a luxury Italian footwear brand. The iconic bow, inspired by the brand's SR Icona collection, is enhanced with red lips and long eyelashes to emphasize femininity and add a playful touch. The maxi logo on the chest deeply reflects the world of Sergio Rossi.
La Maison Du Chocolat is a luxury chocolate brand from Paris. We've incorporated miniature chocolate and macaron dummies inside the BE@RBRICK's tummy to add an element of fun.
Neil Barrett incorporates the brand's iconic thunder pattern. The all-matte black BE@RBRICK body embodies its distinctive British DNA with a modern interpretation.
MARNI offers a fresh take on the brand's sophisticated fashion style through this toy collaboration. The complex color palette is designed to stimulate customer interest and encourage purchases.
Roberto Cavalli has created a special design for this collaboration, featuring wavy black and pink curves that express the brand's signature flair.
