This year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey" (’68). To commemorate this, Warner Bros. in the US created a new 70mm print under the supervision of Christopher Nolan. In Japan, it was screened for a limited time at the National Film Archive this autumn, followed by digital screenings in IMAX. On November 21st (Wed.), a 4K ULTRA HD & HD digital remaster Blu-ray with newly recorded Japanese dubbing was released.

In the fashion world, UNDERCOVER's 2018 Autumn/Winter collection also featured pieces inspired by "2001: A Space Odyssey," a fact still fresh in our memory. They excited fans with items such as body bags modeled after the artificial intelligence HAL 9000 computer from the film, and jackets printed with phrases like "HUMAN ERROR" and "COMPUTER MALFUNCTION."

Last year, MEDICOM TOY released the MAFEX SPACE SUIT ORANGE Ver. and MAFEX SPACE SUIT YELLOW Ver., depicting the spacesuits worn by the crew of the spaceship Discovery on its mission to Jupiter, which were met with great acclaim. This is the second installment. In addition to Captain David Bowman and Frank Poole, three other crew members were aboard the Discovery, in hibernation from before departure. This release brings to life the green and light blue spacesuits that can be seen in the film.
