The setting is near-future Detroit, a city consumed by crime. Officer Alex Murphy, murdered by violent criminals, is resurrected by the giant conglomerate Omni Consumer Products as the robotic law enforcer "RoboCop." The city's order is gradually restored through the actions of RoboCop, who possesses astonishing abilities. However, RoboCop begins to be plagued by fragmented memories of his past as Murphy.

Despite a modest production budget of $13 million, the film "RoboCop" (1987, directed by Paul Verhoeven) became a box office hit, grossing over $53 million. In Japan, it was greeted with astonishment and fervent enthusiasm from the audience upon its premiere at the "Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival '87."
