Only friends call me Murphy.
You call me RoboCop.

Text by SHINNO Kunihiko

The setting is near-future Detroit, a city consumed by crime. Officer Alex Murphy, murdered by violent criminals, is resurrected by the giant conglomerate Omni Consumer Products as the robotic law enforcer "RoboCop." The city's order is gradually restored through the actions of RoboCop, who possesses astonishing abilities. However, RoboCop begins to be plagued by fragmented memories of his past as Murphy.

Despite a modest production budget of $13 million, the film "RoboCop" (1987, directed by Paul Verhoeven) became a box office hit, grossing over $53 million. In Japan, it was greeted with astonishment and fervent enthusiasm from the audience upon its premiere at the "Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival '87." This science-fiction action-entertainment work was a sensation.

Sequels, "RoboCop 2" ('90, directed by Irvin Kershner) and "RoboCop 3" ('93, directed by Fred Dekker), were subsequently produced. The "MAFEX ROBOCOP 3" introduced here is a meticulously detailed, fully articulated action figure that precisely recreates the design from "RoboCop 3."

In this installment, RoboCop confronts Omni Consumer Products, which wields the advanced cyborg "AutoMoi," with defiance, angered by their forceful eviction of residents from the old town to make way for Delta City's construction. The scene where he declares to the Omni CEO, who familiarly calls him "Murphy," "Only friends call me Murphy. You call me RoboCop," while flying with a jetpack on his back, is sure to stir the hearts of fans.

Place this item alongside the "MAFEX ROBOCOP" scheduled for release in October and the "MAFEX ROBOCOP 2" scheduled for January 2019 to complete your thrilling '90s trilogy.
