On Thursday, August 9th, a new open space, “Ginza Sony Park,” was unveiled on the former site of the landmark Ginza building, Sony Building. It comprises a flat, approximately 707-square-meter ground level and five basement levels known as “LOWER PARK,” presenting itself as a three-dimensional park integrating the ground and underground spaces.

Each floor will feature facilities such as a TOKYO FM satellite studio and pop-up stores. Notably, on the first basement level, “THE CONVENI” (The Convenience Store) will open, collaborating with Medicom Toy’s BE@RBRICK.

With Hiroshi Fujiwara, the visionary behind Tokyo’s “the POOL aoyama” and Tokyo’s “THE PARK・ING GINZA,” serving as director, the concept is a convenience store offering a multitude of unique items available only here, aiming to disseminate Ginza-born culture.

To commemorate the opening, a limited edition “BE@RBRICK THE CONVENI” will be released, directed by fragmentdesign, featuring a black body adorned with lettering. It will be sold in closed boxes, with the design revealed only upon opening. When visiting Ginza, be sure to stop by “Ginza Sony Park” and “THE CONVENI.”

Ginza Sony Park is scheduled to operate until autumn 2020 as a temporary park. During this period, it will host a variety of unique shops and events under the theme of a “constantly changing park.” Following this, in 2022, a new Sony Building is planned to be constructed, expanding upon the park concept.
