The "Hermès Artisan Exhibition" Comes to Nagoya and Hakata

The "Hermès Artisan Exhibition," where artisans from various Hermès métiers (crafts) leave their ateliers to showcase their mastery and techniques, will be held in Nagoya and Hakata. The Nagoya event is scheduled from Wednesday, October 4th to Monday, October 9th (public holiday), and the Hakata event from Saturday, October 14th to Thursday, October 19th.

Witness the Exquisite Skills of Artisans from France Up Close

The "Hermès Artisan Exhibition" was held in Tokyo's Omotesando in March 2017, drawing significant attention for its intimate presentation of Hermès artisans and their craft. Now, this acclaimed event embarks on a tour to Nagoya and Hakata.

At the venue, ten distinct craft corners will be set up, featuring artisans from France demonstrating their skills. Visitors can observe firsthand the meticulous work that transforms materials into objects such as bags, saddles, scarves (carrés), ties, jewelry, watches, and gloves. The artisans will also explain their work and answer questions, sharing insights into their exceptional techniques.

In Hakata, a 360-degree VR experience will showcase Saint-Louis, the crystal maison founded in 1586 and part of the Hermès group since 1989. This offers a journey to rediscover traditional craftsmanship.

By experiencing the exceptional skills that bring Hermès objects to life and delving into the stories behind the word "artisan," we uncover a new facet of Hermès, previously unknown to us.
