From Galaxy, the smartphone "Galaxy Fold," featuring Japan's first foldable display, will be available starting Friday, October 25, 2019, at KDDI's directly managed stores, au Online Shop, select electronics retailers, and the world's largest Galaxy showcase, "Galaxy Harajuku," in Tokyo. It is a portable device that transcends the conventional smartphone concept, offering a large 7.3-inch screen when opened and a slim smartphone experience on its 4.6-inch screen when closed.

The "Galaxy Fold," Japan's first smartphone with a foldable display, features Galaxy's largest-ever 7.3-inch "Infinity Flex Display." Its spine-like hinge allows for smooth and elegant opening and closing, much like a book. The thin and flexible display utilizes an innovative polymer. By layering multiple sheets, it achieves durability for repeated folding. The hinge mechanism has undergone over 200,000 folding tests, proving its ability to maintain smooth folding operation continuously.

While folded, the cover display allows for traditional smartphone functions like calls and apps. For more detailed operations or video viewing, the display can be opened to use it like a tablet, offering a hybrid device that can be adapted to various needs. When opening and closing, apps seamlessly transition from the cover display to the main display, enabling the use of up to three apps simultaneously. For example, you can watch a live sports stream while chatting with friends in real-time, or simultaneously search for player information online, facilitating comfortable multitasking. Furthermore, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, apps and media can be enjoyed with smooth performance.

The main display is a Dynamic AMOLED display, enabling more beautiful and realistic visual expression. It achieves a wide range of color expression and vivid contrast through Dynamic Tone Mapping and HDR10+, while also featuring an adjustment function to reduce harmful blue light, thereby reducing eye strain and user fatigue during activities like video viewing.

The main camera system includes three lenses: wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto. The sub-camera system features two lenses for selfies and RGB, and the cover camera has one lens for selfies, totaling six cameras. This setup allows for shooting from any angle, regardless of whether the device is open or closed. Features like background blur adjustable with a tap and ultra-wide-angle shots capturing scenes almost identically to the human field of view (123 degrees) enable a wide range of photographic expression with ease.

The battery is a dual-battery system designed for long-lasting operation. The two batteries not only enhance capacity but also reduce degradation from overcharging. In addition to supporting wireless charging, it features Wireless PowerShare, allowing you to charge other devices. Simply place Qi-compatible wearable devices on the back to begin charging, making it easy to charge your Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds on the go.
