JUNE is a wearable device that measures real-time UV intensity and the total UV exposure your skin has received throughout the day, offering advice to protect your skin. The app also informs you of the time spent in direct sunlight and when you were exposed to the strongest UV rays. Furthermore, the app calculates your daily sun exposure limit and notifies you when sun protection measures are necessary. UV guidelines are based on WHO (World Health Organization) standards.
The design was handled by Camille Toupet, a jewelry designer who has worked on products for numerous luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Chloé, and Harry Winston. The metal piece comes in three colors: gold, platinum, and gunmetal. It can be worn elegantly with the genuine leather bracelet, casually with the included silicone strap, or even as a brooch by removing the strap.
Japanese app to be released free of charge
JUNE's built-in UV sensor within the metal piece measures UV levels in real-time. It is a sophisticated device that measures both UVA (Ultraviolet A rays, which penetrate deep into the skin causing spots and wrinkles) and UVB (Ultraviolet B rays, which cause redness and damage surface skin cells, leading to inflammation).
During the initial setup, you answer six questions about your hair and eye color, skin tone, and how your skin reacts to sun exposure to create a profile of your skin type. The measured UV data is sent to your iOS device via Bluetooth, and the dedicated app displays UV indices on an 11-level scale (1-11+) and allows you to check for appropriate measures such as sunscreen application or wearing a hat. It specifically recommends the necessary SPF value for sunscreen, making it invaluable for outings or travel.
It is garnering significant attention as a pioneering wearable device for women that can be transformed into a bracelet or brooch, adding a stylish touch.
