A Set Featuring Two Cameras and Three Lenses

Leica has already released special 100th-anniversary modelsLeica S Edition 100and the "Leica D-LUX 6 Edition 100." Now, the main star of the 100th-anniversary celebration makes its debut.

The "Leica M Edition 100" is a special set comprising two distinct cameras: the "Leica M-A," a mechanical film rangefinder embodying the origins and present of Leica photography, and the "Leica M Monochrom," a digital rangefinder exclusively for monochrome shooting. This pairing pays homage to the 35mm focal length, the starting point of Leica photography, and to the monochrome work of engineer Oskar Barnack with the Ur-Leica.

For this limited edition, robust stainless steel has been used for the camera bodies and lens construction, a first for the exterior metal of Leica products. The two cameras are further enhanced with exquisite leather finishes. The set also includes three "Leica Summilux-M" lenses with a bright f/1.4 aperture in 28mm, 35mm, and 50mm focal lengths.

The "Leica M-A" is based on the "Leica MP," the current model in Leica's line of film cameras that has continued for 100 years since the Ur-Leica. It incorporates technologies developed by Oskar Barnack for the Ur-Leica, such as the cloth focal-plane shutter, accessory shoe, and detachable baseplate. The set also includes a black-and-white film, "Kodak TRI-X 400," for the Leica M-A.

Furthermore, the "Leica M Monochrom," the world's first digital camera with a full-frame sensor for exclusive monochrome shooting in 35mm format, brings the evocative spirit of nostalgic monochrome photography into the digital age, delivering images of a new quality.

A Special Rimowa Case Created for This Set

The Leica M Edition 100 is housed in a specially created anodized aluminum case from Rimowa. The interior features custom compartments sized for each item in the set and is lined with black genuine leather.

Production is strictly limited to 101 sets worldwide. The top covers of both cameras are engraved with commemorative 100th-anniversary lettering, and the product serial numbers incorporate the years 1914 to 2014 below the four-digit serial number, celebrating the centennial.
