With its beautiful design, portability thanks to its light and thin profile, and performance suitable for business, the MacBook Air is steadily establishing itself as the standard for mobile computing. The new model, approximately 10 months after the previous 2013 iteration, was announced on short notice on April 29th (Tuesday). This update focuses on two key areas: the CPU and the price.

First, the CPU, which is key to performance, has been upgraded from the previous 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (up to 2.6GHz with Turbo Boost) to a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (up to 2.7GHz with Turbo Boost). This results in a slight, yet noticeable, enhancement in operational speed.

Furthermore, prices have been reduced across the board by ¥4,000–¥5,000. The 11-inch 128GB model is priced at ¥88,800, the 256GB model at ¥108,800, the 13-inch 128GB model at ¥98,800, and the 256GB model at ¥118,800.

There are no significant changes to the design, weight, or other specifications. Recent updates to the MacBook Air series have been minor. This suggests that the product has reached a level of perfection where further refinement is unnecessary at this stage. The new model is available for purchase from the announcement date at Apple Stores and electronics retailers nationwide.
