World's Thinnest and Lightest "dynabook R631" Debuts!

Toshiba will sequentially release three models in the "dynabook series," including the "dynabook R631," which achieves a world-leading thinness of approximately 8.3mm at the front and 15.9mm at its thickest point, and a weight of approximately 1.12kg. These models are designed as "Ultrabook™," a new category of personal computing advocated by Intel Corporation, and will be available from early October.

"Ultrabook™" is a new category of notebook PCs, advocated by Intel Corporation, that offers industry-leading performance and responsiveness with a sophisticated design, making them thinner and lighter than ever before. The "dynabook R631" achieves the world's thinnest and lightest profile, equipped with a high-performance CPU and a 128GB high-speed SSD (Solid State Drive). Furthermore, it boasts long battery life and a backlit keyboard for easy typing in dim environments, making it Japan's first Ultrabook that pursues advanced features and user-friendliness.

The new products feature "Toshiba Peak Shift Control," which automatically switches from AC power to battery power during peak electricity demand hours based on prior settings, "TOSHIBA eco utility" for switching to power-saving mode with a single touch, and "Toshiba High-Speed Start" to reduce boot times. Usability has also been improved, such as the ability to open the LCD panel with a single finger without lifting the main unit.

It also supports "Regza Link Share," allowing users to enjoy TV programs recorded on the "Regza" LCD TV or "Regza Blu-ray" Blu-ray disc recorder via their home network.

In addition to the "dynabook R631," Japan's first Ultrabook from a domestic manufacturer, Toshiba is also releasing the "dynabook Qosmio T851" (available from late October, open price), a glasses-free 3D notebook PC that allows enjoyment of 3D visuals without special eyewear, and the "dynabook T451" (available from early October, open price), a standard notebook PC. Both are equipped with advanced CPUs and feature large-capacity batteries for extended operation.
