SoftBank BB has launched domestic sales of the latest digital ballpoint pen, the "Livescribe 3 smartpen," which can display handwritten notes in real-time on iPhone or iPad using a newly developed dedicated app and Bluetooth®. It is now available at the SoftBank SELECTION Online Shop and other retailers.

The latest model in the Livescribe digital ballpoint pen series, the "Livescribe 3 smartpen"
The "Livescribe 3 smartpen" is a digital ballpoint pen that can display and save handwritten content in real-time on iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth®, using Livescribe notebooks or Livescribe dot paper imprinted with dots indicating writing position.
Furthermore, it can record audio data during writing via the iPhone or iPad microphone, allowing for synchronized saving and playback with handwritten notes. The dedicated app, "Livescribe+," is equipped with a variety of advanced features, including text conversion of handwritten notes, search and tagging functions, and photo attachments.
For example, you can write a phone number in your notebook and input it into your contacts with a single tap. Handwritten addresses can be viewed on your device by calling up maps. The "Livescribe 3 smartpen" utilizes power-efficient Bluetooth® 4.0 and can be used for approximately 14 hours after charging.
