The "GR" being released this time inherits the concept from the first generation "GR DIGITAL" and serves as the latest model, enhancing basic performance as the successor to the "GR DIGITAL IV" released in October 2011.

The lens is newly developed, boasting excellent sharpness and clarity even at the periphery. Combined with a new APS-C size CMOS image sensor (approximately 16.2 million effective pixels), the high-performance image processing engine "GR ENGINE V," and a design without a low-pass filter, it achieves high resolution, rich tonal reproduction, and improved high-sensitivity image quality.

Speed performance has also been improved, with the addition of a thumb AF button and a newly equipped aperture preview button. It offers high operability, making it ideal for capturing fleeting moments and enjoying comfortable shooting, especially for street photography. Furthermore, features such as "in-camera RAW development" and "focus assist" to improve manual operability are noteworthy. The range of photographic expression is expected to expand significantly.

The original "GR" model watch features a dial designed with attention to color scheme and the shape of the hour and minute hands for enhanced visibility. It uses a high-quality deerskin band that conforms comfortably to the skin. The case back is engraved with an image of nine aperture blades. The design is inspired by the GR series' characteristics: excellent operability, simple and beautiful design, and a distinguished, substantial appearance.

The original "K" model watch adopts a rugged design that emphasizes outdoor scenes, featuring a rotating bezel and crown reminiscent of a camera's mode dial, and a metal band with sharp edges. The "K" logo is used on the second hand and case back engraving. It is equipped with practical functions such as a 5-channel alarm with vibration setting, an LED light, an LED digital display, and 10 ATM water resistance. The design is inspired by the active image of Pentax's compact and lightweight digital SLRs and their mechanical shapes unique to SLRs.
