An Ultrabook That Adapts to Your Needs: Tablet, Flat, or Laptop

Introducing the dynabook R822

Toshiba, a pioneer in proposing new PC usage styles since launching Japan's first Ultrabook in November 2011, now introduces the 12.5-inch "dynabook R822." This Ultrabook, available from October 26 (Friday), can be used in three distinct modes: tablet, a flat style with the screen laid horizontally, and a traditional laptop.

Toshiba's Unique Slide & Tilt Mechanism Enables Three Distinct Styles

The latest operating system, Windows 8, seamlessly integrates the conventional keyboard and mouse-centric user interface with a new touch-based interface.

Featuring Toshiba's proprietary slide & tilt mechanism, which allows the screen to slide over the keyboard, the "dynabook R822" achieves three versatile styles: a tablet style ideal for touch interaction, a flat style for sharing information with someone across the table, and a laptop style for keyboard and touchpad operation.

Furthermore, users can enjoy each mode to its fullest: image editing software suited for the tablet style allows for easy image manipulation like cropping and compositing with an optional stylus pen, while the laptop style's recording software enables saving video calls from "Skype™" as footage.
