Pursuing the Ultimate Image Quality in the GR Series

The GR II, Now with Smartphone Connectivity

The GR, a high-end compact digital camera that balances the high-quality imaging performance of an APS-C size image sensor, equivalent to that of a digital SLR, with a compact body ideal for street snaps. Its successor, the GR II, equipped with Wi-Fi and NFC (Near Field Communication) functions, will be released on Friday, July 17th.

Wi-Fi and NFC for Seamless Social Media Uploads

The GR series began with the "GR DIGITAL" released in October 2005. While maintaining the concept of "balancing high image quality and portability," the GR II is released this year, marking its 10th anniversary.

Two new features are particularly noteworthy: the "Wi-Fi function," which allows wireless connection with devices such as smartphones and tablets, and the "NFC function," which enables easy pairing by simply holding the camera near a compatible device. Using the dedicated applications "GR Remote" and "Image Sync," users can perform operations such as remote shooting from their smartphones, browse images, transfer multiple selected images, and upload them smoothly to social media.

Furthermore, the "GR Lens," a 28mm equivalent (35mm format) lens that boasts the series' highest imaging power, has been redesigned from its lens elements. The image processing engine "GR ENGINE V" has also been newly adopted, featuring an updated autofocus algorithm that significantly improves color balance accuracy for indoor shooting and delivers rich color expression. The enhanced image quality compared to previous models is also a key appeal.

Additionally, it features a low-pass filterless design, six effect modes, and wireless flash capabilities, allowing users to fully leverage the benefits of its large sensor. These comprehensive specifications are a testament to the manufacturer's dedication. The improved shooting response performance also accurately reflects the user's intent, expanding creative possibilities and promising versatility in various shooting scenarios.
