A space where a simple circle expands into infinite forms is a must-see.
Objects by architect Ryuji Nakamura, inspired by clothing, are on display.
Until April 1st (Wednesday), architect Ryuji Nakamura's objects, inspired by the "CIRCULAR" garments from "132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE," are featured in special displays at ISSEY MIYAKE's flagship stores, "ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE" and "REALITY LAB. ISSEY MIYAKE."

Innovative clothing created by folding and pressing a single piece of fabric.
"132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE" is a label that proposes advanced craftsmanship, pursued by Issey Miyake and the Reality Lab. team. The starting point for the garment's form lies in various three-dimensional shapes developed in collaboration with computer scientists. By folding these into two dimensions and altering the positions of the cut lines, revolutionary clothing is created. The fabrics for shirts, skirts, dresses, and pants are made from recycled fibers, embedding a message about contemporary manufacturing.
This season, "132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE" draws inspiration from the "circle," utilizing the inherent characteristics and limitations of circular construction to eliminate facings and create light, flowing edges for hems and collars.
The objects by architect Ryuji Nakamura are inspired by the "CIRCULAR" series, where garments are formed by cutting several circles of the same size and stitching them together at a few points, expressing an elegant worldview.
These objects, with their delicate, floating lines yet simultaneously conveying the power of matter like gravity and material, create a space where the simple form of a circle expands into infinite possibilities.
Ryuji Nakamura speaks about "Folding Circles."
Architect Ryuji Nakamura offers the following comment on his work:
"The 'CIRCULAR' garments from 132 5. ISSEY MIYAKE are 'circles' when folded. However, when worn, their structure creates multiple 'arcs,' resulting in a soft silhouette. CIRCULAR is clothing that offers us the joy of a simple form, the 'circle,' unfolding into infinite shapes.
Inspired by these garments, the objects created here are formed by folding 'circles' six times the size of the clothing, and through the way they are folded, a three-dimensional form composed of a series of 'arcs' emerges. The delight in witnessing unexpected shapes born from a single, simple form – the 'circle' – is precisely the same as the moment one stands before a mirror wearing this garment."
