Fukuoka Welcomes the Biz Communication Library

The "Economic Library," operated by the Kyushu Economic Research Association, has been reborn as the "Biz Communication Library (BIZCOLI)" following its relocation to Watanabe-dori, a central area of Fukuoka. BIZCOLI is not an ordinary library; it is an economic library designed for a variety of purposes for business professionals, including browsing materials, self-development, and information exchange among users.

Aspiring to be a Hub for Knowledge, Exchange, and Creation in Kyushu

A members-only library, the "Biz Communication Library," aims to contribute to companies and the region by fostering an environment where ambitious business professionals can gather, acquire business-related knowledge and networks, and cultivate creativity. The renovation focused on spatial design while aiming to create a new library that combines the knowledge accumulation function of the former Economic Library with enhanced communication capabilities.

The "Exchange Lounge" within the library features armchairs custom-designed for this space and walls of bricks fired from recycled volcanic ash. The combination of traditional materials like cypress veneer and handmade Japanese paper with inorganic materials such as aluminum and LED creates a unique aesthetic. With calming music and small items to handle and enjoy, visitors can relax and engage in reading or conversation.

The "My Desk Zone" (reservation required), a private space for business professionals, features booths partitioned by sealed laminated glass with cypress veneer, creating an environment that enhances user concentration.

The "Corridor of Knowledge," a bookshelf connecting the lounge and the focused work areas, displays new economic books and materials. This corridor subtly divides the spaces for interaction and concentration, fostering serendipitous encounters with books and encouraging communication among users.

BIZCOLI is open from 10 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturdays. Membership plans are further divided into daytime, nighttime, and full-time options, with a visitor plan also available for single-day use.
