GR SPORT and PHEV Models to Launch by Fiscal Year 2025

The RAV4, born as a pioneer of a new genre of SUV designed for both outdoor adventures and city driving, has evolved into its sixth generation.

The new RAV4 maintains nearly the same body size as its predecessor, measuring 4,600mm in length, 1,855mm in width, and 1,680mm in height. While retaining the RAV4's characteristic solid design and packaging, the exterior is distinguished by a stance that emphasizes its large-diameter tires, giving it a distinctly SUV-like presence.

The interior features an "island architecture" design, where various functions like the display and shifter are grouped together and arranged like an island.

The horizontal instrument panel, designed for easy spatial awareness of the SUV's orientation, along with a navigation display that minimizes eye movement and easily accessible air conditioning vents, enhances operability.

Additionally, in a first for Toyota, the color head-up display has been changed from the conventional "3D display" to a "diagonal display" that creates a sense of depth, improving visibility.

The "Electro Shiftmatic," which allows for intuitive, one-action shift operation, is also a first for Toyota.

The engine, a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder combined with electric motors, produces a system maximum output of 177kW (240ps).

The electric four-wheel-drive system, "E-Four," controls the front-to-rear drive force distribution between 100:0 and 20:80, and offers driving modes such as "TRAIL" and "SNOW." It enhances escape performance and stability on rough or snowy roads by applying brakes to spinning wheels and distributing drive torque to the opposite side.

Toyota RAV4 Z

The key keyword for this new RAV4 is "intelligence." It features the evolved "Toyota Safety Sense" and utilizes "Arene" for the software development of crucial user interfaces (UI) such as the cockpit.

Through "Arene," advancements have been made in image recognition and automatic braking control software. Furthermore, camera and radar performance have been enhanced, expanding the detection range and distance. In the future, simultaneous updates of multiple functions and personalized customization are also anticipated.

The cabin is equipped with a 12.9-inch display, a first for Toyota. The panoramic view monitor also features a Toyota-first technology that allows drivers to view the vehicle's surroundings from their preferred angle by swiping the display.

The current RAV4 grades are "Z," characterized by a body-colored mesh grille, and "Adventure," with a tough and stable, rugged exterior. However, a "GR SPORT" model focused on driving performance and a PHEV model are scheduled for release within fiscal year 2025.

The price for the "Z" is 4.9 million yen, and for the "Adventure," it is 4.5 million yen.
