Voted the World's Most Beautiful Car
The exterior presents a five-door hatchback style with a low, sloping, sharp roofline. The front is characterized by "DS Matrix LED Vision" triple-projector headlamps, vertical LED daytime running lights on either side, and a shiny black front grille with fine chrome accents resembling scattered diamonds.
The sides feature sculpted panels, retractable door handles, and large-diameter wheels fitted with 205/55R19 Michelin "e-Primacy" tires. The rear is elegantly illuminated by diamond-shaped LED taillights, with 80 LEDs on each side, emphasizing the DS signature.
Inside, the premium "RIVOLI" grade features Basalt Black leather, while the base "TROCADERO" model uses fabric and Tep leather. The interior is composed of a seamless 10-inch touchscreen at the center of the dashboard, a 5-inch Smart Touch panel above the shift lever on the center console, the innovative DS Air ventilation system with no visible vents, sculpted climate control buttons, and a red illuminated start button below them.
The power window switches on the door panels, finished in shiny black, are also diamond-shaped, adding a striking detail. The trunk capacity is 410 liters (390 liters for the E-TENSE).
These exquisite interior and exterior designs earned the DS 4 the "Most Beautiful Car of the Year" award at the 37th Festival Automobile International held in Paris in January of this year, thus proving the DS 4 is currently the most beautiful car in the world.
In terms of sustainability, 30% of the materials used are recyclable or reusable green materials (28% metal, 2% polymers like plastic). Approximately 28kg of recycled plastic has been incorporated into about 50 components, including front and rear bumpers, underfloor parts, and dashboard elements, demonstrating efforts to reduce environmental impact.
Functionally, it is equipped with the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) and the "DS IRIS system" with Japanese voice control.
At the beginning of the unveiling event, French Ambassador to Japan Philippe Sèton stated, "The DS 4 is a model that embodies excellence. It excels not only in technology and innovation but also in its aesthetic appeal. I believe the Japanese people will recognize the 'savoir-faire' – the French craftsmanship and aesthetic – of the DS 4. I am confident that this style, which we French cherish, will capture the hearts of our friends in Japan."
Béatrice Foucher, CEO of DS Automobiles, who joined online from France, commented, "France and Japan share a love for beauty. Sales of DS Automobiles in Japan rank in the global top 10, making it a particularly important region as we lead the electrification of the premium market. DS 4 sales have already reached 30% of total DS sales within months of its launch. I eagerly anticipate seeing the DS 4 driving on Japanese streets." Following this, a celebratory launch party was held within the official residence.

According to data from Stellantis Japan, the typical customer for premium C-segment hatchbacks like the DS 4 is 56 years old on average, with a 66% male ratio, 80% married rate, average household income of ¥13.4 million, 80% childless households, and 52% owning multiple vehicles.
Pricing is as follows: TROCADERO PureTech 1.2-liter gasoline model at ¥3.98 million, RIVOLI PureTech 1.2-liter gasoline model at ¥4.49 million, RIVOLI BlueHDi 1.5-liter diesel model at ¥4.69 million, and the RIVOLI E-TENSE plug-in hybrid at ¥5.72 million.
Additionally, a special edition "LA PREMIERE" (meaning "the first") commemorating its launch in Japan is available in a limited run of 50 units. The 1.2-liter gasoline model is priced at ¥5.14 million, the 1.5-liter diesel model at ¥5.34 million, and the E-TENSE model at ¥6.42 million.
