Pursuing ultimate driving pleasure through meticulous lightweight design

The "911 GT3 S/C" arrives as the first full automatic convertible roof model in the 911 GT3 series. It is a vehicle that allows you to enjoy the unique naturally aspirated sound of its high-revving flat-six engine, even without a fixed roof.
The "911 GT3 S/C" is described by Porsche as a model that combines the lightweight design of the "911 S/T" with the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine of the "911 GT3."
The flat-six engine, designed to meet the latest emissions regulations, boasts a maximum output of 375 kW (510 PS) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, with a redline of 9,000 rpm. It is exclusively paired with a short-ratio, lightweight 6-speed manual transmission, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 313 km/h.
To enhance the exhilarating driving experience, significant efforts have been made to reduce vehicle weight. Like the "911 S/T," carbon fiber is used for the hood and fenders. Carbon fiber stabilizers and shear plates are also inherited from the fixed-head "911 S/T."
The chassis is equipped as standard with the PCCB brake system, which is over 20 kg lighter than cast-iron brakes. The center-lock wheels, 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, also used on the "911 S/T," are made of lightweight magnesium, reducing rotational mass by approximately 9 kg. Furthermore, a 40 Ah lithium-ion battery contributes to a weight reduction of about 4 kg compared to conventional batteries, bringing the total weight down to 1,497 kg.
The roof is a fabric top with magnesium ribs, designed to maintain a coupe-like roofline even when closed. It can be opened or closed in approximately 12 seconds at speeds below 50 km/h.
An integrated wind deflector is also included, allowing for open-air driving even at high speeds or in cooler temperatures. The wind deflector deploys in 2 seconds with the press of a button on the center console and can be operated at speeds up to 120 km/h.
The exterior is characterized by a front windshield frame finished in black film. The adoption of matrix LED headlights has eliminated the need for auxiliary light units in the front bumper, resulting in a cleaner aesthetic.
For the first time in a 911 convertible, a Gurney flap has been fitted to the retractable rear spoiler. The front spoiler lip and rear diffuser are carried over from the current "911 GT3."
Additionally, the "Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur" Street Style Package, which expresses a unique visual identity, is available as an option.
The striking decorative graphic on the front fenders and the "PORSCHE" logo on the sides of the vehicle are painted in Pyro Red, while the wheels are finished in Slate Grey Neo, harmonizing with the exterior accent color. Inside, the Adaptive Sport Seats Plus, embroidered with the Porsche Crest, are a notable feature.
The price of the "911 GT3 S/C" is 38,430,000 yen.

Q. What is the position of the GT3 within the 911 series?
The 911 series is based on the Carrera, with variations like the more powerful Carrera S, Turbo, and Turbo S. The GT3 belongs to a lineage that emphasizes motorsport-derived technology adapted for road use, focusing on driving performance. Its commitment to high-revving naturally aspirated engines and lightweight design is symbolic, embodying a design philosophy that prioritizes active driver engagement, distinct from the accessible high output of turbocharged models. The 911 GT3 S/C follows this tradition while being the first to adopt an open-top body.
Q. Why is it manual transmission only, despite being an open-top model?
Convertibles generally tend to prioritize comfort and ease of driving, with automatic transmissions being the norm. However, by limiting the 911 GT3 S/C to a short-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, it uncompromisingly inherits the GT3's inherent character as a driver's car. The essential aim of this model is to reconcile the open-air sensation of a convertible with the joy of manual driving.
Q. How significant is it that the PCCB brake system is standard equipment?
PCCB stands for Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake, a system that is typically a high-cost option. It not only achieves a weight reduction of over 20 kg compared to cast-iron brakes but also offers superior fade resistance. The decision to make it standard equipment clearly indicates that the 911 GT3 S/C is designed with sporty driving in mind.
