A Clean Space Featuring 100% Recycled Aluminum Alloy

Last autumn, Ferrari announced its intention to release a BEV sports car in 2026. The car's name has now been revealed as 'Luce', an Italian word meaning 'light' or 'to illuminate', along with its interior.

As its name suggests, 'Luce' represents the significance of this model within Ferrari's lineup and its future vision.

The design also departs from previous methods, having been developed through a five-year collaboration between Ferrari and LoveFrom, a creative collective based in San Francisco founded by designers Jony Ive and Marc Newson.

The cabin is configured as a single, clean space. A particularly striking feature is the extensive use of aluminum.

The material used is a 100% recycled aluminum alloy, precisely milled from solid billets and finished with a state-of-the-art anodization process. This is said to create durability, hardness, and a refined tactile feel, while also serving as a cabin accent.

Furthermore, leveraging the expertise of LoveFrom's diverse team of architects, artists, graphic designers, engineers, and musicians, the 'Luce' interface places significant emphasis on haptics, clarity, and intuitive communication, while also incorporating numerous physical switches to foster a strong connection between the driver and the vehicle.

The steering wheel pays homage to Ferrari's heritage while incorporating modern technological innovations. Its simple three-spoke design reinterprets the iconic wooden three-spoke steering wheels from Nardi in the 1950s-60s, with intentionally exposed aluminum, achieving a weight reduction of 400g compared to standard Ferrari steering wheels.

The switches on the steering wheel are organized into two analog control modules, balancing functionality and ease of use. This layout is said to be inspired by F1 car designs.

The 'Luce' is equipped with three displays: the driver's pinnacle, a control panel, and a rear control panel. The team reportedly spent considerable time developing an intuitive and user-friendly experience, with a custom typeface created from historical Ferrari fonts and Italian drafting fonts defining the 'Luce's' identity.

The pinnacle, particularly related to driver performance, features two overlapping OLED displays, with the layered depth enhancing visibility.

The control panel is movable, allowing the screen to be oriented towards either the driver or the passenger. The handrest for operation is designed not only for comfort but also as a distinctive accent that reflects the unique character of the 'Luce'.

The multi-graph in the upper right corner can switch between four modes—clock, chronograph, compass, and launch control—via an advanced electronic control system.

The center console features glass, expressing both functionality and elegance, contributing to the 'Luce's' originality and innovative feel.

The full appearance of the 'Luce' is scheduled to be revealed in Italy in May 2026.
