The Open-Top 500C and MultiAir-Equipped Punto Evo
The Abarth 500C marks a return to open-top models for Abarth after a considerable interval. Its exterior is characterized by understated yet elegant aero parts, 17-inch diamond-pattern alloy wheels, and a two-tone body color scheme.
The engine has also been enhanced, with the 1.4-liter turbo engine producing a maximum output of 140ps and a maximum torque of 21kgm, available from a low 2,000rpm. This allows for a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 205km/h.
Meanwhile, the Abarth Punto Evo's most notable feature is the adoption of Fiat Group's new-generation "MultiAir" unit. This system, similar in principle to BMW's "Valvetronic," controls intake and exhaust valves via electronically controlled hydraulic valves, eliminating the need for a throttle valve.
In terms of specifications, the 1.4-liter inline-4 gasoline engine is paired with a Garrett turbocharger featuring advanced geometry, delivering a maximum output of 165ps and peak torque of 25.5kgm. Combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, it achieves 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 213km/h.
Equipped with Exclusive Parts for a Sporty Finish
These latest Abarth models focus not only on performance but also on environmental efficiency, featuring "Start & Stop" idling-stop functionality and a GSI (Gear Shift Indicator).
The suspension has been upgraded with exclusive components, Brembo brakes, and larger stabilizers, offering a more refined driving experience compared to the standard Punto Evo. Combined with bespoke aero parts, the result is a distinctly sporty aesthetic.
The interior boasts soft black leather and cloth front seats, with an optional upgrade to bucket seats co-developed with Sabelt, known as "Abarth Corse."
Both models are highly recommended as sports cars for the discerning driver. Abarth's signature exhaust system is said to deliver a captivating sound, making auditory enjoyment a key part of the experience. There is no doubt that both are eagerly anticipated models for the Japanese market.
