The Chosen Masterpiece: "1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Touring Berlinetta"

Founded in 1854, Louis Vuitton is a major maison with 445 stores worldwide. The maison, a long-standing leader in high fashion, established the "Louis Vuitton Classic Awards" in 2005, bringing new value to the world of classic cars.

The awards present two "Louis Vuitton Classic Awards" annually. The Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award is bestowed upon a single car selected from the "BEST OF SHOW" winners at the world's most prestigious concours d'elegance. The Concept Award is presented to a prototype car with the highest potential and excellence to win a future concours d'elegance among the many prototypes exhibited.

The prestigious "Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award 2009-2010" was awarded to the "1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Touring Berlinetta," owned by former Microsoft president John Shirley.

It triumphed over four other renowned vehicles: the "Ferrari 212 Export Vignale," the "Voisin 28 CV C20 Milord Deny-Bardin," the "Delahaye V12 Type 165 Roadster Figoni & Falaschi," the "Horch 853 Sport Cabriolet Bohse & Ruback" owned by Bob Lee (Pebble Beach), and the "Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Spider Touring (Quail)."

The "Louis Vuitton Classic Concept Award 2009-2010" was triumphantly awarded to the "BMW Vision EfficientDynamics." At the presentation, jury chairman Christian Philippsen stated,

"The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics demonstrates that a car can achieve sustainable mobility while also possessing attractive functionality. Its body lines meet a drag coefficient of 0.22, and it is equipped with the latest innovative technology that enables fuel efficiency of 25 km per liter and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds. Everything about the cockpit of this thoroughbred is exceptional."

he offered his highest praise.

This year, as in previous years, the selection of the award-winning cars was overseen by a distinguished panel of judges representing the world of car design, including Christian Philippsen, chairman of the Louis Vuitton Classic Awards jury.

A total of 15 individuals served on the jury for the "Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award," including Ian Cameron, Chief Designer at Rolls-Royce; Gorden Wagener, Chief Designer at Mercedes-Benz; and Frank Stephenson, Styling Director at McLaren.

On the day of the awards ceremony, Yves Carcelle, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, and Christian Philippsen, Chairman of the Louis Vuitton Classic Awards Jury, will present the awards. This is a concours that, in keeping with Louis Vuitton's spirit, embraces both traditional craftsmanship and innovative design, bestowing eternal glory upon the past and the future.
