Circuit-Only Model for P1 Owners Priced at Approximately 350 Million Yen
Last year'sGeneva Motor ShowatWorld Premieremarked its world premiere, with production commencing in September 2013. TheP1sold out its entire production of 375 units in just about six months. To date, 150 units have reportedly been delivered.
Responding to strong demand from these owners for a car capable of running on the circuit, theP1 GTRhas debuted. Eligibility requires current ownership of a P1, with a price of £1.98 million, translating to approximately 340-350 million yen in Japan. Sales are projected for 30-35 units. Production of the P1 GTR will commence immediately after the final P1 rolls off the line, with deliveries scheduled to begin around September 2015.
According to Paul Mackenzie, McLaren P1 Program Director and McLaren Special Operations Executive Director, the P1 GTR is approximately 100kg lighter than the P1, with an engine output of 800ps and a motor output of 200ps, totaling 1000ps (compared to the P1's 916ps).
Nearly all body panels have been modified from the P1 to improve aerodynamics and cooling performance. The panel thickness has also been reduced for weight savings. The interior features an F1-specification steering wheel and telemetry for checking and analyzing driving data.

Comprehensive Driving Program for Drivers
Purchasing the McLaren P1 GTR grants access to an exclusive circuit training program hosted by McLaren for its owners.
This program will be held 10 times between September 2015 and the end of 2016, with owners eligible to participate in six of these sessions. The venues are planned to be world-renowned circuits famous for F1. Each session is limited to a maximum of 15 participants. McLaren explains this is the optimal number to ensure focused attention on each user during the program.
Mackenzie emphasizes that the program is tailored to each owner's abilities. "We are developing individual programs based on each participant's wishes, catering to those with no circuit experience as well as those who are experienced," he stated.
Upon arrival at the training program venue, all necessary items, including racing suits, will be provided. Furthermore, a dedicated garage will be available, with a personal engineer, technician, and driver coach assigned to each user, offering precise advice and maintenance throughout the program.
The purchase price of the GTR, exceeding 300 million yen, includes all costs such as tires, maintenance, and logistics.

Crafting Curricula Tailored to Each Individual
The program is divided into two main components: the Human Performance Program and the simulator.
The Human Performance Program was originally developed for F1 drivers. It involves training to adapt mentally and physically to the stresses of driving a high-performance car on a circuit, going beyond a mere fitness program.
The simulator, on the other hand, is a system developed for F1 circuits. By using the simulator, users can drive the GTR as if they were on a real circuit, preparing them for actual driving.
The program itself begins in February 2015. At this time, users will visit McLaren for fittings of their seats and racing suits, and to decide on the body color with Design Director Frank Stephenson. Explanations of the simulator and performance programs will also be provided.
Later, a driving training session using the McLaren 650S will be held at Silverstone Circuit in the UK. Here, participants will meet their dedicated driving coach for the first time to discuss the curriculum and determine its direction.
The curriculum is crafted by experts involved in F1, tailored to each individual's skill and experience level. This forms the ultimate testing program, allowing participants to train in the circuit-exclusive McLaren P1 GTR.
