Details Inspired by Ferrari's Iconic Cars
The "Hypersail" project was conceived as an open innovation platform where diverse expertise converges, involving the Ferrari Tech Team, Ferrari Design Studio, and naval architect Guillaume Verdier, among others.
The model, which the team claims transforms aerodynamic, hydrodynamic, and structural constraints into aesthetic value, spans 100 feet (approximately 30.5 meters). It is designed to deliver maximum performance in the unpredictable marine environment, leveraging knowledge gained from automotive development.
Given Ferrari's racing heritage, "Hypersail" has become a vessel unique in both scale and technology.
A prime example is the integrated solar panels on the hull's sides. These are strategically placed based on detailed analysis of solar conditions during navigation, offering grip and allowing for walking on them.
Furthermore, a dedicated fastening system and treatment ensure maximum freedom of movement for the crew.
The yacht's Ferrari identity is also evident in its design. The streamlined silhouette evokes the proportions of the "Ferrari Monza SP1/SP2," while the exterior of the cabin is inspired by the Le Mans-winning "499P."
Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari's Chief Design Officer, commented, "Hypersail was an unexpected opportunity for the Ferrari Design Studio and a highly challenging objective due to its complexity. It allowed us to extend our creative research into a context quite different from our usual domain."
The livery unveiled features a new shade of grey as its base, with the iconic yellow of "Nuovo Giallo Fry"—Ferrari's "second soul"—used as an accent color. The origin of this name traces back to Fiamma Breschi, the widow of Luigi Musso, a friend of Enzo Ferrari and a driver known for his yellow helmet.
The livery is on display at the Ferrari flagship store in Milan from April 22nd to 26th, coinciding with Design Week. Additionally, an installation of a lighthouse by the Ferrari Design Studio will be presented on the main terrace of "HIGHLINE Milano," overlooking Piazza del Duomo, adding to the excitement of Milan Design Week.
Ferrari's challenge extends its racing world to the sea. Its future developments are certainly worth watching.

Q. What powers the Hypersail?
It is designed to be powered by renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, and kinetic energy. At its core is foiling, with its advanced control system utilizing knowledge cultivated from automotive development. The choice of a monohull design itself is a strategic decision to maximize hydrodynamic and aerodynamic efficiency.
Q. Why is the livery's grey this particular shade?
The livery adopts the inherent color of carbon fiber, the primary material of the hull, as Grigio Hypersail. This is not merely an aesthetic choice but embodies the material's lightness and performance through its color. The iconic yellow of Nuovo Giallo Fly serves as an accent, balancing functional beauty with visual strength.
Q. Which Ferrari models influenced the yacht's design?
Beyond the Monza SP1/SP2 and 499P, the design incorporates details inspired by the distinctive elongated "F" visual seen on the wings of the 2023/2024 F1 car, as well as lines from the LaFerrari and F80 hypercars. It represents a multi-layered expression of the brand's DNA, transplanting Ferrari's design language into a different context on the sea.
