Abarth Adds Variations to the 500 and 595

Fiat Chrysler Japan announced on February 19th that it will add the "semi-automatic transmission specification" model of theAbarth 500" and the "Abarth 595 Competizione" manual transmission model. Sales will begin on Saturday, March 1st.

The Abarth 500 Opens the Door to Entry-Level Users

Based on Fiat's "500 (Cinquecento)," the "Abarth 500" offers a sporty driving experience, and its higher-grade model, the "Abarth 595 Competizione," will now be available with additional transmission specifications, allowing for more flexible model selection.

The "Abarth 500," equipped with a 1.4-liter turbo engine, delivers a maximum output of 99 kW (135 ps) and a peak torque of 180 Nm (18.4 kgm) despite its compact size, making it one of the few remaining hot hatchbacks. The "Abarth 595 Competizione" is an enhanced version of the Abarth 500, featuring further engineering refinements to boost maximum output to 118 kW (160 ps) and peak torque to 206 Nm (21.0 kgm), along with exclusive equipment.

This update adds an automatic mode-equipped 5-speed sequential (semi-automatic) transmission to the Abarth 500, which was previously only available with a manual transmission. By eliminating the clutch pedal, this makes the car more accessible to entry-level users.

Meanwhile, the "Abarth 595 Competizione," currently offered only with a 5-speed sequential transmission with automatic mode, will now also be available with a 5-speed manual transmission, allowing drivers to enjoy a more engaging driving experience.

Abarth 500

The price, including 5% consumption tax, is 2,845,500 yen for the Abarth 500 with the 5-speed semi-automatic transmission, and 3,234,500 yen for the Abarth 595 Competizione with the 5-speed manual transmission.
