Turbo Diesel with 163ps Maximum Output + 37ps Motor

Peugeot claims this "Hybrid4" marks the world's first production diesel hybrid vehicle. The system features a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo diesel "HDi FAP" engine producing a maximum output of 163ps at the front, and a full hybrid system with a rear motor rated at 27ps and a maximum of 37ps, employing 4WD.

The combined maximum torque from the engine and motor is 51kgm. This powerful unit, paired with an electronically controlled 2-pedal 6-speed sequential transmission, achieves 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 209km/h.

In terms of environmental performance, the European combined fuel economy of 26.34km/ℓ and CO2 emissions of 99g/km are truly befitting of a hybrid.
Additionally, it incorporates a start-stop system. By shutting off the engine at low speeds and switching to electric motor drive, fuel efficiency is further enhanced.

Furthermore, four driving modes – "Auto," "Zero Emission," "4WD," and "Sport" – can be selected via a selector on the center console, allowing drivers to match the vehicle's performance to their specific driving conditions. This promises enhanced comfort.

This 3008 Hybrid4 is slated for release in the European market in spring 2011. The combination of a diesel engine, which retains its strong popularity, with a hybrid system is expected to be well-received in Europe.

BRAND HISTORY
Peugeot, one of France's leading brands, also owns Citroën. As a full-line manufacturer that produces everything from mass-market cars to presidential limousines, Peugeot is also actively involved in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Rally Championship.

Peugeot began manufacturing automobiles in 1890. A decade after Gottlieb Daimler developed the world's first internal combustion engine automobile (later the Mercedes-Benz), Peugeot was already actively involved in automotive manufacturing, receiving engine supplies.

Peugeot's product development is characterized by its steadfastness and orthodox approach, avoiding flamboyant designs. Its deep relationship with Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina also contributes to the elegant styling of Peugeot cars.

In Japan, due to a smaller dealer network and its relatively understated, orthodox design, Peugeot was once considered a brand for connoisseurs. However, the sporty hatchback 205 GTI, introduced in 1986, ignited its popularity. Subsequently, the 306 and 307, targeting the VW Golf, significantly expanded its market share, gaining particular attention as urban vehicles popular among women.

Peugeot's product planning capabilities are also noteworthy; the brand was an early adopter of the CC (Coupe Cabriolet) concept, featuring retractable hardtops for open-top driving.

Another factor contributing to Peugeot's market growth is its active participation in motorsports, coupled with significant achievements. The brand secured World Rally Championship titles in 1985, 1986, and again from 2000 to 2002. It achieved overall victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in the 1990s and once in 2009, with the 2009 victory being with a diesel-powered machine.

As of June 2010, the Japanese lineup included the 207 (hatchback, station wagon, coupe cabriolet), 308 (hatchback, station wagon, coupe cabriolet), and 407 (sedan, station wagon, coupe). In June, the crossover concept 3008 was added, followed by the sporty compact coupe RCZ in the autumn.
