Five EV Models to be Unveiled by 2021

Volvo announced that from 2019 onwards, all models released will feature a lineup of electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrids (PHVs), or mild hybrids. This signifies a gradual reduction in the production of internal combustion engine vehicles, with a transition to electrified models such as EVs.

Volvo has previously set a goal of selling one million electrified vehicles by 2025 and aims for production operations that do not impact climate change. CEO Samuelsson stated, "Electrification is the result of pursuing customer needs." He commented, "This announcement is a strong manifestation of our determination to achieve this goal and concretely shows the path forward."

Incidentally, last month Volvo announced that it would spin off Polestar into an independent brand, specializing in the development of electric high-performance cars.

Under the current plan, five EV models are scheduled for release between 2019 and 2021, with three of them set to debut as high-performance cars under the Polestar brand.
