A Compact Two-Seater Hinting at Jaguar's Future
Only rendering sketches of the "C-X16" had been released. Its revealed form offers the delightful surprise of a hybrid sports car.
Measuring 4,445mm long, 2,048mm wide, and 1,297mm high, the "C-X16" is a compact two-seater sports car, said to be the second smallest in Jaguar's history after the "XK120" (body size 4,270mm long, 1,550mm wide, 1,270mm high), which was produced until 1954. It is a model that hints at the future of Jaguar sports cars, with production potential being considered.
The powertrain features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine producing a maximum output of 280kW (380ps) and a maximum torque of 450Nm. A hybrid system, controlled by a "Push to Pass" button on the steering wheel, allows for an additional 70kW of power and 235Nm of torque.
The chassis utilizes lightweight aluminum, and a 1.6kWh battery integrated with the 8-speed AT is placed behind the seats, achieving an ideal 50:50 weight distribution. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of approximately 300km/h. It is also capable of driving on electric power alone, with a top speed of 80km/h in that mode. An impressive environmental performance is achieved with CO2 emissions of 165g/km.
The exterior design was handled by Design Director Ian Callum, who was also responsible for the "XJ," "XF," and "XK." Its muscular body, featuring a clamshell design with lines on the hood, embodies the futuristic beauty seen in recent Jaguars.
The "C-X16," which Ian Callum describes as "a symbol of future Jaguar performance," is a model that excites not only with its debut at the motor show but also with the prospect of its production.
