An Event Fusing Cars, Music, and Fashion

The day featured a special talk show with Masafumi Suzuki, editor-in-chief of ENGINE magazine, and Roland Krüger, President of BMW Japan, who engaged in a lively discussion about the concepts behind the new BMW Z4's design. The event also included a DJ set by Shuya Okino (Kyoto Jazz Massive), a display of driving scene styling curated by Tomoki Sukezane from Isetan Shinjuku Men’s Building, and a slideshow of the new Z4 photographed by Kazumi Kurigami, making for a packed program.

The "The New BMW Z4 × ISETAN Men’s Special Talk Show" opened with a curated selection of tracks by DJ Shuya Okino (Kyoto Jazz Massive). Inspired by the sharp form of the new BMW Z4, Okino’s choices were crossover-style tunes with elements of 1970s jazz and fusion, such as JazzaNova, Lars Bartkuhn, and Drum Lessons.

Guests mingled, enjoying original cocktails and finger foods while admiring two actual cars in Deep Sea Blue and Alpine White, as well as the slideshow. Some even took the opportunity to sit inside the cars for photos, showing keen interest in the new BMW Z4 before them. As the venue filled with pleasant music, the main event began: the talk show between President Roland Krüger and Masafumi Suzuki, centered on the theme, "The Concept Embodied in the New Z4's Design."

The Appeal of the New BMW Z4, Seen Through Its Design

"Isn't it an incredibly beautiful car?" Mr. Suzuki translated President Krüger's words, and the conversation proceeded with Mr. Suzuki posing questions.

"I could talk endlessly about this car's appeal, but the most important thing is that it is a true roadster. The hardtop we've adopted here offers a luxurious feel like a coupe when closed, yet presents an authentic roadster silhouette when open. You'll also experience the driving pleasure that is uniquely BMW. This is because, first and foremost, it's built with driver satisfaction in mind. You'll feel a special joy the moment you settle into the seat. And it's crucial not to forget that this car's design considers numerous elements, including weight distribution and engine placement. The visual appeal is, of course, important, but the design of the new Z4 is only complete when functional necessities are also met."

The discussion, which included some technical points, concluded after about 40 minutes with President Roland Krüger's remarks. Afterward, with music from DJ Okino as background, guests mingled in a relaxed atmosphere, viewing the new BMW Z4 footage displayed on monitors and the actual cars on exhibit, bringing the event to a close.
