Performance Beyond V12 from a V8 Engine

It boasts high popularity as a chauffeur-driven limousine.BMWThe "7 Series" is also a superb luxury sedan for owners who prefer to drive themselves. To further enhance its qualities as a driver's car,Alpinaoffers the "BMW ALPINA B7 Supercharge" sports model.

While the BMW 7 Series offers both V8 and V12 engines, Alpina deliberately chose the V8 for its superior handling. However, through its unique technology, it has achieved performance exceeding that of a V12.

This technology combines BMW's innovative "Valvetronic" intake system with a supercharger known as a "radial compressor." This novel approach achieves a maximum output of 500 ps and a peak torque of 71.4 kgm from its 4.4-liter displacement. These figures surpass the V12 in the "BMW 760i" by 55 ps and 10.2 kgm, respectively.

The immense power is delivered through a 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC, allowing for automatic shifting or manual gear selection via switches behind the steering wheel.

The generously sized body exhibits agile handling, making it feel a size smaller, thanks to Alpina's unique suspension tuning and 21-inch low-profile tires. The interior, a beautiful combination of leather and wood, offers an atmosphere befitting a luxury sports car.

BRAND HISTORY
ALPINA (Alpina), a German automobile manufacturer, dramatically enhances the appeal of BMW cars, which are already highly regarded for their sportiness and premium quality, through its unique technology.

The founder and current CEO, Burkhard Bovensiepen, was born in 1936 as the son of Rudolf Bovensiepen, who ran the office equipment manufacturer "Alpina." While the company dealt with typewriters, Burkhard's interest turned to automobiles. He entered the field in 1961 by tuning the engine of the "BMW 1500," and began full-scale development. In 1965, he established Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH, marking the beginning of the automobile manufacturer Alpina.

In addition to developing tuning parts, Alpina also competed in touring car races, leveraging its technology to gain recognition in the world of motorsport. In 1977, it concluded its racing activities and transitioned into an automobile manufacturer.

The following year, 1978, it developed three models bearing its own name. One of them, the "BMW ALPINA B6 2.8," demonstrated overwhelming performance by equipping the BMW 3 Series, which only had 4-cylinder engines at the time, with a 6-cylinder engine.

Since then, it has produced legendary cars such as the "BMW ALPINA B10 Bi-Turbo" and "BMW ALPINA ROADSTER V8." The philosophy of creating cars that offer performance and handling far exceeding the base models, while maintaining a refined ride and luxurious interior, continues to be upheld by Alpina today.
