Bobbi's Secret to Inner Radiance

“Women want to shine as themselves, both inside and out. They wish to become more beautiful and gain more confidence,” states Bobbi Brown’s philosophy. True to her words, Bobbi, the founder, practices an organic lifestyle. Her beauty has a reason, stemming from years of yoga and a healthy diet of organic foods. At the Holistic Beauty Tour held at Miami's SOHO Hotel, Bobbi and her trusted experts in various fields shared insights on the latest wellness trends. Let's report on the tour that delves into the source of Bobbi's beauty.

The Miami Tour Begins with the Latest in Yoga

Under a clear blue sky, amidst swaying palm trees. Bobbi Brown welcomed us to Miami Beach, her favorite resort. We stayed at a hotel that Bobbi herself frequents, and in our rooms, yoga mats were prepared in tote bags, just as Bobbi likes them.

The morning after the tour began at 6 AM, starting the day with Yoga Slates. Bobbi, who maintains an early-rising lifestyle, waking up at 6 AM every day, exercises for at least 30 minutes daily. She is also a long-time yoga enthusiast. Morning yoga commenced on the hotel's rooftop pool deck, with Bobbi participating alongside us.

Instructor Cat Haiyen has developed her own unique style, "Yoga Slates," based on Vinyasa yoga techniques, which is highly popular among Miami's celebrities and professional athletes.

Cat's Yoga Slates incorporate movements that effectively train the muscles, awakening both mind and body when practiced first thing in the morning. As you can see from Cat's physique, it's quite an athletic program.

Bobbi, who has practiced yoga for many years, says, "Yoga has taught me to accept things as they are, even if they aren't perfect," emphasizing that yoga is essential for achieving inner peace. In recent years, styles within yoga that focus on training inner muscles and building strength have become popular, representing a trend that merges Eastern and Western wisdom.

The Paleo Diet: A Stone Age Approach Popular with Celebrities

“You are what you eat,” says Bobbi. She is extremely mindful of her diet, which forms the foundation of beauty and health. For breakfast, we were served a meal in the style of the "Paleo Diet," recommended by her nutritionist, Tricia Williams, which Bobbi herself is currently following.

The Paleo Diet is currently the hottest diet in America. It's based on the idea that the food balance of the long Stone Age, before humans began farming, is best suited for us. Also known as the "caveman diet," it emphasizes protein, fats, and vegetables while cutting out grains and sugars.

Specifically, it involves consuming plenty of vegetables and high-quality protein from meat and fish, while strictly eliminating grains like rice and bread, legumes, and sugars, including fruit sugars.

While supported by those seriously focused on body composition through bodybuilding, it has gained nationwide popularity for its effects in "weight loss" and "body toning."
Naturally, it's also popular among Hollywood actors who must maintain their physiques. Rumor has it that Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Biel, Megan Fox, and Gwyneth Paltrow are all fans of this diet. Indeed, they are all celebrities known for their stunning figures.

The menu also featured the trending chicken broth and almond flour muffins.

To list the menu items, first, a green juice. Made from celery and kale, it contained no fruit, so it wasn't sweet – truly like a green smoothie.

The soup was chicken broth. "Broth contains minerals and collagen, which have beneficial effects on bone, hair, and nail growth," says Tricia. This bone broth is so trendy in New York that there are now specialty broth shops.

Eggs and muffins, typical breakfast items, were also served. However, the muffins and bread were made not with wheat flour, but with ground flaxseed or almond flour. Because they use high-protein ingredients, they are characterized by their protein content.
Upon tasting, they indeed had a flavor close to muffins and bread, so much so that you wouldn't realize they weren't made with wheat flour.
Eggs, considered a complete food, were scrambled with goat cheese. Goat cheese is also recommended in the Paleo diet over cow's milk cheese due to its high nutritional value.

The Paleo diet ideally balances 80% vegetables with 20% animal protein.

“While a vegetarian diet isn't bad, the Paleo diet is effective for building a stronger, more muscular body by including animal protein,” says Tricia.

Bobbi herself usually maintains a vegetable-rich diet and tries to follow a gluten-free diet. "When my diet gets disrupted during travel, I immediately go to Tricia to prepare good meals for me."

The Paleo diet, by providing protein, is beneficial for women's skin and hair, and by strictly eliminating sugar, it is highly effective for weight loss. It's a diet that meat-loving women should pay attention to as it's relatively easy to incorporate.

A Kampo Boom in America Too! Which Kampo is Best for Anti-Aging?

Next, we were introduced to the benefits of Kampo (traditional Japanese herbal medicine). Dr. Joshua Jeter, a Kampo physician and acupuncturist whom Bobbi consults with in Colorado, explained the efficacy of these herbs.

While the term "Kampo" isn't widely known in America, goji berries and ginseng are very popular as superfoods and are commonly sold in health food stores and drugstores.

Beyond these superfoods, Dr. Joshua recommends "Cordyceps" as a more potent medicinal herb. Cordyceps is a type of fungus that grows primarily in Tibet, parasitic on moth larvae, and is dried to create a medicinal substance.

Cordyceps has long been prized as a tonic for strengthening the body. In Tibet, it was exclusively consumed by royalty, and in China, it was used as an ingredient in imperial cuisine, earning its reputation as a high-grade medicinal herb.
Its medicinal properties are highly effective for anti-aging, energy boosting, and enhancing immunity.
“Furthermore, it has shown effectiveness in fertility treatments, eliminating cancer cells, and restoring kidney and liver function,” says Dr. Joshua.

In the past, only rare wild specimens were collected and brewed into a drink, making it scarce and difficult to obtain. However, today, cultivated Cordyceps, produced with attention to quality and safety, is available and can be processed into powder.

“The remarkable aspect of Cordyceps is that its efficacy remains unchanged whether it's cultivated or in powder form,” says Dr. Joshua. Thanks to this, clients such as professional athletes and mountaineers at Dr. Joshua's clinic are avid users.

“What's amazing about Cordyceps is that you don't have to wait months to see results; you can feel its effects almost immediately. And it has no side effects."

Furthermore, Dr. Joshua points out, “Its components can be absorbed transdermally, not just when ingested orally."

Incidentally, this high-grade medicinal herb, Cordyceps, is also incorporated into Bobbi Brown's "Intensive Skin Serum Foundation" (SPF40), newly released on April 10th. As Kampo gains traction in America, it's worth paying attention to the forefront of beauty where Eastern wisdom meets cutting-edge technology.
