Oliver Peoples and Byredo Collaborate


LA-based eyewear brand "OLIVER PEOPLES" and Stockholm-based fragrance brand "BYREDO" have collaborated across genres. They are releasing a limited edition collection of sunglasses and fragrances with the theme of crossing vision and scent.

Concept: Synesthesia – Merging Vision and Scent Through a Unique Process


For this collaboration, inspired by the landscapes and scents evoked by Los Angeles, sunglasses and fragrances were created with "synesthesia" as the concept. Synesthesia is an intellectual phenomenon, observed in some individuals, where a single stimulus causes sensations of a different kind in addition to the normal senses, such as perceiving colors when hearing sounds or tasting flavors when seeing shapes.

In creating the items, the perfumer from "Byredo" first visited Los Angeles. The impression of the landscape, seen through lenses of various colors, was then expressed through scent. Subsequently, "Oliver Peoples" realized the concept of synesthesia by designing original frames to match the impression of the custom-blended fragrances.

The unisex sunglasses come in two frame colors – semi-matte black and beige crystal – and three lens colors: indigo blue, champagne, and green. The fragrance opens with refreshing top notes of California lemon, transitioning to middle notes of patchouli and orris butter, with a base of musk.

The bottle color can be chosen from three options, matching the lens colors. The fragrance and sunglasses are available for individual purchase, as well as in a special box set with a custom-designed pouch and case. These limited edition items will be available at Oliver Peoples and Byredo authorized retailers and official online shops. Additionally, to commemorate this collaboration, a pop-up store is being held at Isetan Shinjuku, Main Building 3F = East Park / Re-Style Gift, until May 10 (Sunday).
