About 20 years ago, shu uemura, which aspired to create makeup that felt like a second skin and was imperceptible on the face, focused on the "mousse" texture.
Mousse offered significant advantages: it was thin, light, and easy to apply. However, it presented a high hurdle in achieving a balanced blend of three distinct elements: powder, water/oil, and air. Consequently, development continued through trial and error even after the first product was released.

After many years, the ideal makeup base was finally completed in the spring of 2010.

UV Under Base Mousse is a makeup base that can easily and quickly create a uniform and beautiful skin tone for anyone, regardless of skin type or age. It is truly the culmination of 20 years of research and development. Equipped with the latest "Foam Stabilize Technology" to enhance foam stability, it not only fulfills the fundamental functions of a primer as envisioned by shu uemura—"preparing the skin in a neutral state" and "spreading as an ultra-thin veil to enhance foundation adherence"—but also represents a significant evolution from previous mousses in terms of foam quality, coverage, sun protection, pore-blurring and care, and hydration.

The "Powder Foundation," born in 2007 to offer a beautiful finish that rivals liquid foundations, along with the ease and comfort of powder, has also been enhanced in Spring 2010. Pursuing an even more refined finish, it has been reborn as "Powder Foundation GE."

The most significant evolution is the "dewy glow" reminiscent of polishing.
A combination of two distinct powders, "Clear Glow Enhancer" and "Pore Eraser," covers concerns like pores and smooths the skin's surface, leading to uniform light reflection. As a result, it creates an elegant radiance, like meticulously polished porcelain, that mimics the glow of healthy skin. Furthermore, the Clear Glow Enhancer is resistant to sebum, helping to maintain the freshly applied beauty throughout the day.
