We asked François Nars for his tips on mastering matte lipstick.
Q. What are the characteristics of matte lipstick?
Matte lipsticks, whether nude or deep shades, are very modern. Start by trying colors close to your skin tone. They will surely look beautiful. Then, for a fresh complexion or lighter makeup, pair them with deeper shades. There are no rules for finding the perfect color. Just like jewelry or a great pair of shoes, you should simply try the colors that catch your eye.
Q. What's the key to creating striking, full lips?
Apply a bold color. Then, add a touch of gloss to the center of your lips. This will make them appear fuller and more dimensional. Using a lip liner will also define the contours. Make sure to blend it so the line isn't visible.
