Test Drive the Golf R, the Most Powerful Golf Yet | Volkswagen Gallery

Tire size is 225/40R18. The brakes respond delicately to pedal pressure. This alone feels valuable enough to justify the Golf R.
The seats are upholstered in leather with thick cushioning, and the letter 'R' is subtly embossed on the backrest.
The driving mode selector switch is located to the left of the shift knob. You can choose from five modes: 'Eco,' 'Normal,' 'Individual,' 'Comfort,' and the R-exclusive 'Race.'
The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while sharing the same displacement as its predecessor, boasts a 24 ps increase in maximum output to 280 ps and a 50 Nm rise in maximum torque to 380 Nm.
The 'R' sub-name, evoking the initials of 'Race,' originates from Volkswagen R GmbH, the division responsible for developing special models.
