Lina Bo Bardi Exhibition Celebrates

Lina Bo Bardi, an architect who left behind many works described as "architecture for the people."

An exhibition of her work, still beloved by many, will be held from Friday, April 14th to Thursday, May 11th at CCCSCD gallery in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture.

Born in Rome, Italy, and moving to Brazil at the age of 32 after World War II, Lina established a unique architectural style that fused Italian-trained, rational, and delicate modernism with Brazil's uninhibited, indigenous dynamism.

Resisting tradition and trends, she consistently prioritized the principle of "spaces for people to use."

Her words, "Architecture is not just a utopia, but a means to bring results to everyone," resonate with sharp yet hopeful anticipation for the creation of public spaces going forward.

This exhibition is a joint event with the Toshiwo Yata Laboratory, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Okayama University of Science, with the cooperation of the Watari Museum of Contemporary Art.

Four large-scale models, including a 4-meter square model, along with approximately 30 panels of drawings and photographs, are on display, faithfully recreating the charm of her works through meticulously crafted models.
