Also noteworthy are the artist's opening events. Enjoy Kiyomizu-dera Temple illuminated by autumn leaves, a special evening viewing.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple, nestled on Mount Otowa, offers special evening viewings three times a year—spring, summer, and autumn.
Approximately 500 lights illuminate the temple grounds, creating a mystical ambiance. A blue searchlight, "Kannon's Compassionate Light," symbolizing the compassion of Kannon Bodhisattva, the temple's principal image, sweeps across the sky.
This enchanting spectacle has become a beloved seasonal tradition, revealing a new facet of Kyoto to many.
This autumn, an opening event (a devotional performance) will be held by a globally acclaimed artist unit amidst the stunning backdrop of the illuminated temple buildings and autumn foliage.
The performance will be by NONOTAK, an artist unit based in Paris with a worldwide following.
NONOTAK is renowned for their immersive works that synchronize space, visuals, and music. They have presented performances at various art and music festivals, including Tate Britain in London, and are recognized globally as "the new generation of media art."
Their corporate collaborations include promotional videos for TOYOTA Prius, HERMES, NOKIA, and Stella McCartney.
For this event, they will present "SHIRO," a piece designed to evoke an "experience of prayer," inviting introspection through synchronized light and sound.
