Shibito & Suga Dairo Release Album "Shishu" and Announce Live Performance
MC Shibito (Koujin/Triune Gods) paints the universe with lyrics that flow effortlessly, drawing listeners into poetic narratives with his ever-changing flow. Alongside him is free jazz pianist Suga Dairo, whose explosive yet intellectual playing, backed by overwhelming technique, repeatedly shatters and creates with every note. Now, these two artists have completed "Shishu," a double-name album that gracefully transcends genre boundaries!

One-Night-Only Live Performance to Recreate the Album in its Entirety on September 20th (Thursday) at Shibuya WWW!
The new world created by the meeting of two talents, each distinctive in their respective fields of hip-hop and jazz.—In the autumn of 2010, Suga Dairo engaged in an improvisational duel with seven different artists in a series titled "Seven Nights of Seven Battles." The first opponent in this series was Shibito.
The astonishing performance, where two complete strangers competed and elevated each other, was released on YouTube (titled "September 3, 2010: Suga Dairo vs. Shibito (Koujin)") and is still spoken of today as a legendary live event.
At the climax of this intense battle, Shibito uttered the words, "I was born," marking the very moment a new form of musical creation was discovered.
Two years after that impactful encounter, the intense creativity and individuality of both artists weave a grand narrative. Shibito's songs resonate gently and nostalgically like children's rhymes at times, while at others, they race forward with divine speed. Suga Dairo's improvisations unfold like a babbling brook gradually turning into a raging torrent, eventually forming the swells of a great river.
The story they weave conjures images of old Japan, adorned with rich nature. This is an achievement only possible for artists like them, who have internalized both hip-hop and jazz—forms originating from outside Japan—to establish their own unique styles. Truly original and creative music resides here.

Born in 1974, raised in Kamakura. Aimed to be a biologist in his student days but changed paths to pursue piano. His practical exam at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music's Jazz Course astonished Yosuke Yamashita, leading to his admission as a distinguished first-term student. He later studied abroad for four years at Berklee College of Music (among his peers were Hiromi Uehara), and upon returning to Japan, he performed with groups such as "Shibusa Shirazu" and "Isao Suzuki OMA SOUND." He has also collaborated with Akira Sakata, Kota Onishi, Shingo Matsumura (ZAZEN BOYS), Tabito Nanah, Tatsuya Nakamura, Shibito (Koujin), U-zhaan, Kiyohiko Senba, and Kazumi Nikaido, among others. Having made his long-awaited major debut with Pony Canyon last October, he is undoubtedly the sole free jazz pianist in Japan actively performing in the 21st century.

MC of Koujin. Also possesses an alter ego named Tamato. With a fluid, ever-changing flow that sometimes resembles singing, he is a unique artist who overturns conventional notions of Japanese hip-hop, a traveler wandering through musical spaces beyond genre. His words, which pour forth endlessly from his inner universe, conjure images in the listener's mind, drawing them into an experience akin to watching a film. His performances, often described as theatrical, evoke deep emotions from the audience, leading them into a new realm of music. Following Koujin's albums and numerous guest appearances, which have garnered a growing international following, he released his first solo album, "Heaven's Koibun ~Heaven's Love Letter~," in 2005. In collaboration with DJ DOLBEE and painter Maki Toda, he proposed a project focusing on "media that are disappearing," releasing works in various formats including postcard records, 8cm CDs, and domestically produced vinyl. He created the hand-drawn and claymation works "Ento Kazoku," "Ima Koko," and "Mukyo" with Nagoya-based animator Akinori Okada. His work "Mukyo ~Mukyo~" by Shibito x DJ DOLBEE x ANIMATION (Akinori Okada) was featured in the Aichi Triennale Nagoya and NHK's "Our Dream Stories," further expanding the scope of his activities.
