As a DJ, I'll be introducing the "sounds" that catch my ear each day—or perhaps things and people that evoke sound—right here.
I hope to inspire people to weave music more deeply into their lives, much like fashion, art, or fine food and drink, making life just a little richer.

Being as DJ I have planned to introduce some "Sounds" (or some thing or person that I feel the "Sound") in here.
Such as Fashion and Art and good drink or food, I hope we can put some more music in our lives so as to make it a little bit more satisfying.

BLUE NOTE: Jazz Stars Still Shining Bright (2)

Various Artists / Blue Note Street (Blue Note / EMI MUSIC JAPAN)

This album was a project that emerged during the creation of "Sunday Blue."
A young director at the label had released four compilations curated by DJs, and seeing the scene invigorated by these releases, he wanted to further energize BLUE NOTE. He commissioned DJs and producers active in the club scene—such as Jazztronik, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, Tatsuo Sunaga, and DJ Kawasaki—to select tracks deeply meaningful to them, re-arrange them, and bring them back to life for the modern era. The plan was to compile these into a single work.

Amidst masterpieces by jazz giants like Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and McCoy Tyner, I chose "A Night In Tunisia," a piece created in the 1940s by trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and pianist Frank Paparelli.
This choice was also influenced by a fond memory from about 15 years ago, when I had the pleasure of speaking with Dizzy after his final performance in Japan at a jazz club in Tokyo. At BLUE NOTE, it's famously known through Art Blakey's version. The album as a whole features 11 tracks, each showcasing the unique individuality of the participating artists with diverse arrangements, including house, broken beats, and reggae.

I collaborated with New York jazz singer Jose James, the unit Cro-Magnon, known for their funky grooves, and Shuichiro Sakaguchi, the trumpeter from Double Famous, to create a mid-tempo, mellow jazz-funk version that emphasizes a live groove.

Through these works, I sincerely hope to provide a gateway for younger generations to discover jazz.
