FOR STOCKISTS—Evolving into a Cultural Movement
"FOR STOCKISTS" first emerged in September 2006, a humble beginning at Hillside West in Daikanyama, Tokyo.
This exhibition, aimed at customers who share similar values, garnered significant attention. For its second iteration, the number of participating companies and shops doubled from the previous event.
AKIKO SUSO (hats), CHIGO (children's clothing), Collex / everyday by collex (interiors), COWBOOKS (miscellaneous goods), dieci (interiors), FLAVOR (pet goods), F-style (products), graf (interiors), Gel Chop (products), Peloqoon (dolls), LANDSCAPE PRODUCTS (interiors), New territory (interiors), PAPIER LABO. (letterpress printing), SOURCE (jewelry), Torso/TEMBEA (bags), UTRECHT (books), VIVO, VA (miscellaneous goods/books), YARD (plants), YEN WERE (pottery)
From this list of participants, one can imagine the diverse range of offerings.
While the individual merits of each are numerous, the most noteworthy aspect of "FOR STOCKISTS" is undoubtedly the excellent atmosphere within the venue.
"yard & gel chop"'s installation. The combination of plants and "gel chop's" new works, themed around agriculture, was refreshing.
"UTRECHT"was active with Eguchi-san also present at the booth. Books from NIEVES were also on display.
The three days offered a firsthand glimpse of how the quality of goods is conveyed from person to person, and how people connect through these items, evident in the shared enjoyment of both participating companies and visitors.
The phrase "You can understand what's current here" was frequently heard around the venue.
This is high praise for "FOR STOCKISTS" and a testament to the anticipation for its future growth.
What lies ahead for "FOR STOCKISTS"?
We can only hope that this nascent movement will continue to flourish and eventually become a significant cultural force.
It's rare to find an exhibition that makes you look forward to what it will be like in ten years.
