DJである私が日々出会った気になる"音"（もしくは音を感じるモノやヒトなど）を、この場で皆さんに紹介していきます。
ファッションやアート、美味しいお酒や食事のようにもっと音楽を生活のなかに取り入れて、人生を少しだけ豊かにする“きっかけ”をつくれるといいなあと思っています。

Being as DJ I have planned to introduce some "Sounds" (or some thing or person that I feel the "Sound") in here.
Such as Fashion and Art and good drink or food, I hope we can put some more music in our lives so as to make it a little bit more satisfying.

BLUE NOTE今も輝き続けるジャズの星 (2) -The star of jazz that keeps shining (2)-

こちらのアルバムは『Sunday Blue』の制作中に話が持ち上がったプロジェクトでした。
レーベルの若手ディレクターが、前回のものを含めDJが監修した４枚のコンピレーションをリリースしたことによって、にわかに活気づいたシーンを見てさらにBLUE NOTEを盛り上げていきたいと、Jazztronik, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, 須永辰緒, DJ Kawasakiなど、クラブシーンで活躍するDJ、プロデューサーに思い入れの深い楽曲を選び、あらたにアレンジを施して現代に蘇らせて欲しいと依頼。これを１枚の作品にまとめようと企画しました。

Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Herbie Hacock, Wayne Shorter, Macoy Tynerなどジャズ・ジャイアンツによる名曲ばかりが並ぶ中から私が選んだのは、1940年代にトランペッターのDizzy GillespieがピアニストのFrank Paparelliと作った"A Night In Tunisia"でした。
今から15年ほど前に、都内のジャズ・クラブでDizzyの国内最後となった公演の演奏終了後に話をした嬉しい思い出もあるのも理由でした。BLUE NOTEではArt Blakeyのバージョンで有名です。アルバム全体ではハウスあり、ブロークン・ビーツありレグエありと各参加者の個性が生かされ、バラエティに富んだアレンジで11作品が収録されています。

私はニューヨークのジャズ・シンガーJose Jamesとファンキなーグルーブが特徴的なユニットのCro-Magnon（クロマニオン）そしてDouble Famousのトランぺッター 坂口修一郎を迎えてナマのグルーブを生かした、ミッドテンポのメローなジャズ・ファンク・バージョンに仕上げてみました。

私自身これらの作品で、若い世代の人たちがジャズを聴くきっかけになってくれることを願っています。

This album was a project that came up while making the "SUNDAY BLUE" compilation.
A young director from the label released total four compilations made by DJs, he asked to Jazztronik,Kyoto Jazz Massive,Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, Tatsuo Sunaga,DJ Kawasaki, e.t.c.. to pick up their favorite track and re-arrange
it in a style that will fit to the present.

JAZZ giants such as Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Herbie Hacock, Wayne Shorter, Macoy Tyner was mostly chosen but I picked up trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and pianist Frank Paparelli cooperation track in 1940, "A Night In Tunisia".
I choose this one because 15years' ago I spoke with Dizzy at his last concert in Japan.
In BLUE NOTE this is famous version by Art Blakey. This compilation album is diverse style,
House, Broken Beats, Reggae, you can hear 11tracks of various music from each artist.

I created the track with NY jazz singer Jose James and unit called Cro-Magnon who are famous with their funky groove and Shuichiro Sakaguchi the trumpeter from band called Double Famous,It became a mid tempo, mellow jazz funk version.

I hope this album will give an opportunity to open up a door to younger generation.
